The Sunshine Kids Foundation
Since 1982 The Sunshine Kids Foundation has been providing young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities which promote self-esteem, personal accomplishment and just plain fun. Each year thousands of kids from hospitals across the country benefit from The Sunshine Kids Foundation’s many programs and national and regional events. The Foundation provides all its activities free of charge to the children’s families and hospitals thanks to personal and corporate contributions. The Sunshine Kids family is dedicated to providing the most exciting activities, trips and events for as many young cancer patients as possible.
Regional activities are provided for children who are receiving treatment from hospitals in the Greater Houston area. Parents and siblings are invited to attend these local events. These activities occur throughout the year and include visits to the rodeo, major league baseball games, symphony concerts, fishing tournaments, and much more.
National events involve thousands of young cancer patients from hospitals across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. All activities, transportation, lodging and food are provided free of charge to the children and attending medical staff. National activities include visits to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Broadway in New York City, and Sea World of Texas in San Antonio to name a few.
EVO MOTORCYCLE CLUB AND THE SUNSHINE KIDS
For the past several years the EVOs and our friends have been involved with the Texas Hill Country Adventure event for the Sunshine Kids. The club, in cooperation with Alamo City Harley Davidson, donates T-Shirts, sunglasses, and head rags to the 30 or so kids who participate in the motorcycle ride every year. The 60-mile round trip ride begins at the San Marcos Civic Center and winds through the scenic hill country. Afterward, the EVOs enjoy a relaxing lunch with the kids at the Sunrise Exotic Ranch in Dripping Springs.
